PORTFOLIO

Our Work

Machu is a fast-growing professional consultancy based in Manchester, providing technical solutions that work commercially and domestically for developers.  We handle the many aspects of design technology with the relevant software facilities within the development of projects throughout the UK and provide sustainable solutions to complex innovative problems, often involving Design through Buildings, Products and Visual creation.  We believe there's more to design than add-on building regulations and achieving planning permissions: we can put technologies at the heart of major design development by working as key members of multi-disciplinary teams and by integrating Architectural, 3d and Product design into the fabric of the project..

Our business and project management skills ensure that all relevant design information is gathered and fed into each project at the right stage, reducing the potential for time-consuming and costly delays for developers or individuals.  Our job is to know the legislation, the techniques and the best-practice required by planners or inspectors.  This can mean anything from negotiating design recommendations, to physically draughting out plans or Realistic Visual Model’s and integrating design requirements on major product or architectural developments.

Machudesign was inspired by the region’s architecture and natural environment, our team decided to base the design of the project on those elements.

The PFI will see hundreds of homes built or refurbished in four neighbourhoods; Crossley, Fitton Hill, Westwood and Primrose Bank. The initial phase of the project will involve the construction of 420 new social and private homes, the refurbishment of 318 existing council homes and the selective demolition of existing properties.

Machudesign Conceptual & Theoretical Pieces.

We designed some pages for the first Machudesign website, Which we felt would have been better developed using newer software, then we re-established the programming and wrote it into the final exhibit.

We put the pages within this site to give the observer an idea of the back catalogue of project pages and the work that it has involved to bring the design of web-site up to this point.

In these images were a series of projects that were produced as conceptual pieces and theoretical projects, in the desire to one day bring the projects to life.

All in All were created with the same professionalism as this site,

Don’t give up even if the first attempt is not going to execute the aesthetics you are looking for.

2D & 3D Designs

Design & draughting involves the creation of technical drawings which are a form of specialised graphic communication using computer aided design (CAD). For a CAD Design, one of the most important skills aside from Draughting in 2d, is ones' ability to sketch in 3d. The ability to articulate a design is what Machu is advanced at. A lot of design Companies today create their work with a computer and imaging software of some kind. There are a number of graphic editing programmes that can be used, the images left were developed in Autodesk Autocad, which we use as leading software for innovation and execution of Projects.

For many applications a 2D CAD drawing is not sufficient for the true representation of the project and a 3D model is required. This can be for visualisation, construction or manufacturing purposes. At Machu we have the capability to deliver 3D CAD models of drawings to your specification.

These Buildings were constructed with a 5mm thick Steel Plate housed within a 240mm Thick Concrete Aggregate Panel, Shot fixed and Coach Bolted to a  Steel Cage in Effect.  The new £8m headquarters for officers and staff in north Cumbria has transformed the look of the south of the city. Working with Taylor Young Architects and DSSR, Building Services Consulting Engineers, Our team designed the exterior Foyer and internal Lobby design entrances to provide aesthetics to the building and facade absorption in the Edifice. Phil Sykes, Associate of Taylor Young Architects, says “The building achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, helped by the thermal mass of exposed concrete coffer soffits. The suspended rafts below the coffers are fitted with both up and down lighting and acoustic absorption pads to provide a high quality working environment”.

The project was shortlisted for the Environmental Sustainability Category in the CCI North West Regional Construction Awards 2009, and acknowledged as Highly Commended.
